Introduction

What is Passion?

Passion has diverse definition, based on the body of content and context.

In this context, passion can mean one's hobby, interest, skills, strength, talent, goals, vision, mission and opportunities. Let's get into detailed explanation, for a better insight

Passion as your hobby:

Everyone has what he or she loves doing on a regular basis with little or no effort. That is your hobby. One can have more than one hobby but will have one of them that's peculiar to them. That is, when anyone thinks of you,they can just tag you with that hobby. For instance, Fela, the musician. Ope, the writer.

Passion as your interest:

There is a general intrest and specific everyone has. This interest can be a basis of career choice. For instance, I have a general intrest in science and health. And, I have a specific interest in education and marketing. Then, I made a career path based on my general interest and grew in experience in my specific interest whenever I have the opportunity to.

I have learnt and observed that anything we are interested in, we will go after it sooner or later.

The word passion is broad in meaning. But I can simply refer passion to as interest. This is because whatever we are passionate about,is what we are interested in.

Passion as Skill:

Everyone has a skill that was learnt formally or informally. I have someone that learnt how to plaiting hair by just physically looking at the hairstylist making a client hair. And, I also have someone that was trained on how to make hair for years in a systematic way and orderly process. Both people has a skill, how the skill was gotten is different.

Quote me anywhere, you can't possess a skill without being taught. Every skill has a learning phase which period or duration of time varies, based on our mental capacity, physical health and commitment/devotion.

Our skills can be a passion, when we give total commitment, devotion and deligence to it, which yield accomplishments and achievements.

Our interest maybe our skills, which makes it becomes our passion. For instance, I am interested in marketing, so had to learn the skills of marketing and which makes marketing my passion.

Today, I am flexible, creative and effective in any work role trained for or assigned to, because I productively use my marketing skills to get the expected results.

Our skills may be based on recommendation, opportunities or responsibilities, which can become our passion in the long run.

Passion as Strength:

Strength majorly implies what you excel more in with little or no effort. For example I excel more in science courses during my secondary school days. Thus, I can simply say science courses is my strength and can make it my passion.

Actually, I made science courses, my passion, because I excel more in them. Today, I am a biochemist because I committed to studying science courses in the university.

Passion as Talent:

Talent can be likened to hobby or skills that one is exceptionally good in. Talent makes on uniquely or specifically recognized or announced from the crowd.

Talent can simply means an hobby or skill or interest that one does extraordinarily. It brings more attention and more prosperity to you if one is devoted to it.

For example, one can have hobbies such as singing, writing, reading, talking, drawing and traveling. Then, takes intrest in singing, traveling and writing. And, get skills in talking and singing. And, exceptionally good in drawing. Such person can navigate through his or her hobbies, intrest, skills and talent to achieve desired milestones or goals

Passion as Goal:

Everyone has a goal. And, such goal can be passionately driven.

I specifically refer to passion as a goal. This is because we are driven to fulfill any goal we have.

During my university days, I had a goal to have 5.0 in one of the semesters. I drive towards that goal daily by having more time of study and learning. Believe me, I achieved it. It's one of my accomplishments as a student then.

Thus, I can simply define passion as the drive towards fulfilling our goals

Passion as Vision:

Passion is derived from vision. There is a end view we have that drives our pursuit.

This is why every organization, company or business have a vision, some even have a vision statement and deliberately voice them out to stay conscious and be driven to fulfill that vision. Also, every individual should have a vision, and even make confession of the same daily. This will drive us to fulfilling that vision, and that process of being driven to fulfill that vision can be termed, passion

Passion as Mission:

Passion can be reference to as Mission. This is because everyone has a mission, especially when there's a goal to be achieved. This mission can be referred to as passion when you are driven by it.

Most people do have mission statement,that keep them focused on achieving their desired goal or milestones.

Remember when you have a mission and driven by it to achieve your desired or set goals,then you have a passion.

Passion as Opportunity

A popular saying, "opportunity comes but once" is to cause one to always take advantage of opportunities that comes our way. When we take advantage of opportunities that comes our way,then it can be referred to as passion.

I remembered a time during my undergraduate, there was an opportunity to learn Ankara craft skills. I took advantage of that opportunity and learnt the basics so well. Today, am flexible in creativity and design because of I made that opportunity becomes a passion, which I drove to achieve a desired goal and outcome.

The word, 'passion' is a broad term with a broad meaning since it can be used for different context or used to explain more than one term.

This book would give further insight on passion, how one can explore his or her passion to achieve desired milestones or goals, strategies and steps on navigating a specified or generalized career path while working on a specific or generalized passion.
